The first golf tournament of 2016 is in the books for me...and the wife. ;)
We played in what is now our annual event in the Polar Bear Classic at our home golf course Red Hawk Golf Club. We got out on Monday (a holiday) for a practice round (although it was on the Hills course) and we both showed quite a bit of rust as neither of us had touched a club for five months or so.
We participated in the net division this year which afforded us a five stroke handicap. Last year we played in the gross division and brought home nothing in the form of prize money as we both played pretty terribly. This year we did a little better:
The gross 68 would have won us nothing on that side, but net it got us a share of fourth place and was good enough for $220 in prize money. While the two three putts and the bogey on our last hole (the fourth) were disappointing, we were overall pretty happy with how we played.
I should also note that my wife striped one down the middle on #1, but I was just closer to the green (90 yards vs 130 yards), which we elected to take. I promptly stuffed it in there about 6 feet and she made the putt, so she didn't give me too hard a time about it. ;)
Overall it was a good day out and I'm already looking forward to playing some golf with the little one this year.
